.VIN and .WINE new gTLDs are Here

Did you say "help find solutions"?

One would have expected that the wine Geographical Indications representatives would have the Trademark Clearinghouse as the sole solution to protect wine identifiers. Thanks to the French Deputy Minister for Digital Affairs, Axelle Lemaire, this won't be the case. For ".wine" and ".vin" domain names, there will be two protection mechanisms: the Trademark Clearinghouse and a list of protected names, yet to be announced.

New gTLD reminders:
  • .WINE and .VIN new gTLDs to be announced sooon on most recent Sunrise Period announcements;
  • The Trademark Clearinghouse ("TMCH") calendar on Nameshield;
  • Wine clubs can register their ".club" domain name with Namebay and search for a "Premium" on Startup.club;
  • Contact Nameshield Registry to submit your application in round 2 of the ICANN new gTLD program.
