ICANN bans closed generic new gTLDs

A "club is a club": sports clubs, fan clubs, night clubs to use a domain name ending in ".club".
New gTLD applicants won't be allowed to create generic domain name extensions for themselves "only".

Extract: "The ICANN board’s New gTLD Program Committee passed a resolutionSunday that un-freezes the remaining new gTLD applications that envisage a namespace wholly controlled by the applicant".

  • Trademarks: submit your datas into the Trademark Clearinghouse to participate in coming Sunrise Periods. Check the calendar here;
  • Clubs can register their ".club" domain name with Namebay.
