New gTLDs: Opportunities and Risks (Round 2)

Extract: "Amazon and Flickr appeared to have invested significantly in the new programme, registering key terms such as ‘Kindle’ and ‘Fire’ in unrelated new gTLDs such as .singles, .estate and .plumbing. Fortunately, they soon saw that such a defensive policy was in no-one’s interest and started looking at the DPML as the keystone in their defensive policy".

Note: did you know there is a TLD which means "trademark"? The ".商标" IDN stands for “.trademark” in Simplified Chinese.

Reminder:
  • Clubs can register a ".club" domain name with NetNames;
  • Brands can submit their trademark data into the Trademark Clearinghouse ("TMCH") to participate in a Sunrise Period. The TMCH calendar is available here;
  • Need to promote your new gTLD? Contact Jovenet Consulting for help.
