Is ICANN wrong on .AFRICA new gTLD?

Extract: "DotConnectAfrica (DCA) wanted to run the .africa registry, but it was blocked from doing so by ICANN's committee of government representatives. DCA has been tussling with ICANN ever since to get the decision overturned, which is why it wants to quiz the two officials – ICANN board member, Cherine Chalaby, and the former head of its Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC), Heather Dryden".

Good to know: did you know there is a TLD which means "trademark"? The ".商标" IDN stands for “.trademark” in Simplified Chinese.

Reminder:
  • Africa residents will soon be able to register a ".africa" domain name with UniRegistry;
  • Brands can submit their trademark data into the Trademark Clearinghouse ("TMCH") to participate in a Sunrise Period. The TMCH calendar is available here;
  • If you want to sell or need to promote your new gTLD, contact Jovenet Consulting.
