Will ICANN’s .GAT Do-Over Be Done Well?

Extract: "The creation of the .gay domain space has been a long and troubled process. The new domain is part of ICANN’s controversial decision to create new domain names alongside stalwarts like .com, .org, or .uk. This has already given us new extensions like .wedding, .london, and .audi. The whole scheme has been called a giant scam, aimed at forcing existing brand owners to buy new domains to protect their intellectual property".

Reminder:
  • To participate in a Sunrise Period, Brands should submit their trademark data into the Trademark Clearinghouse and check its calendar;
  • The Gay community wil soon be able to register a domain name ending in ".gay" with GoDaddy;
  • Promoting new domain names to the right target requires time: contact Jovenet Consulting.
