New gTLDs revenue estimate downgrade isn’t a new gTLDs disaster story

Extract: "It is early days, and perhaps these estimates will later be revised downwards, but for now ICANN is certainly not looking ahead negatively (and this despite, in its FY16 estimates for new TLD transaction-based fees, giving a relatively conservative ‘best’ and ‘high’ estimate on renewal rates of at least 50% - except for TLDs that provided free registrations, where renewal rate was estimated at 25% - the low end estimate being 35%)".
