Napa winemakers fight expansion of Internet addresses

Various governmental policies regulate the use of place names in wine marketing, including Napa County’s “75 percent rule” for local grape content and the European Union’s requirement that sparkling wine come from France’s Champagne winemaking region to be labeled as such. Without proper oversight of domain names, though, much of their work defending product identities could be undone.
