Will the new .uk domain replace co.uk?

While co.uk certainly have had many years to establish itself as the primary domain name in the UK, the numbers from other countries do hint that .uk will break ground. In France com.fr had five years head start, before .fr was launched in 2004. Today there are 2.7 million .fr registrations compared to the 7.000 registrations that com.fr had when closed down in 2011. Or what about Spain? 93,74% of all registrations are .es. The others com.es, org.es, edu.es, nom.es and gob.es are only used by a meagre 6,26% of Spanish websites.
